Equestrian Trails Elementary School was designed to be a functional and aesthetic component of the 49-acre Minto civic development. As such, this elementary school has been integrated into the designs of the adjacent future Middle School (02-JJ) and fire station facility. In addition, this school has been designed as a part of an inter-local agreement between the School District and the Village of Wellington for the design, construction, and maintenance of recreation and play fields.
The school, originally a multiple award-winning prototype design of Beacon Cove Intermediate School in Jupiter, has been converted from CMU construction to a cast concrete tilt-up system. This new construction method was introduced to improve the hurricane impact requirements per the new Florida Building Code, compress the overall construction schedule and to further reduce the cost of the project. In addition, the school is provided with full food service facilities, an indoor multipurpose room and stage with an outdoor amphitheater, media center and the District’s newly designed clinic.
