A comprehensive modernization/replacement project, broken down into two phases of construction, which allowed the existing facility to remain fully operational while the new facility was being built on the same property. Once the new school was completed, the students were moved into the new facility and the old buildings were demolished.

The existing school was the first school in the United States to become a fully certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The design of the new facility ensured that the school maintained that certification.

Two garden areas, one a butterfly garden, were designed to enhance the school’s environmental educational opportunities for students.
