Lake Park Elementary, originally built in 1923, required major renovations and additions to bring the school up to current standards. The small site presented many challenges in developing a design program that would accommodate 490 students. Working with the Town of Lake Park and the School District of Palm Beach County, Song + Associates developed a 2-story urban design concept that incorporates all requirements of the District, Town and local community. The design concept provides a continuous flow of the downtown redevelopment initiated by the Town of Lake Park.

The administrative building, part of the original campus, was restored to preserve the historical significance of the school and to complement the surrounding neighborhood. Additions to the campus include classrooms, a new cafeteria/kitchen, multipurpose area and media area. Site issues addressed in the redesign included abandoning the adjacent road right-of-way to accommodate additional parking.
